Stephanie A. Stein, MD

Dr. Stein was born and raised in Rockville, Maryland.  For her undergraduate studies she attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.  There, she was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society for her outstanding academic achievements. Thereafter, she attended the George Washington University School of Medicine where she graduated with honors and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honors Society.  She then completed her Internal Medicine training at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. 


Dr. Stein elected to pursue further subspecialty training in Endocrinology and Diabetes and was selected to continue her training at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She trained with the some of the top physicians in the world for complex endocrinologic conditions. During her fellowship she received the Clinical Fellow - Teacher of the Year award and was asked to stay on faculty as an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  During her time as an Assistant Professor,  she not only developed a busy clinical practice but also published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, co-authored book chapters, presented abstracts at national meetings, delivered Grand Round presentations to neighboring hospitals, and taught medical students, residents, and fellows.  She is an active member of the Endocrine Society and is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology.


Dr. Stein returned to the Washington, DC area to start her private practice. Her focus is on the management of diabetes and endocrinologic disorders.
